Description WST-8 is a water-soluble tetrazolium salt, which can be reduced by some dehydrogenases in the mitochondria to produce orange-yellow metazan in the presence of electronically coupled reagents. WST-8 is a very widely used biological stain in cell biology, which can be used as a colorimetric indicator of NADH for the detection of cell proliferation and cytotoxicity.
