Wastewater Ammonia Removal - Nitrifying Bacteria

Wastewater Ammonia Removal - Nitrifying Bacteria
default

Description

Nitrifying bacteria is a consortium of vigorous and specific microbes that when add to system, quickly increases the population to acceptable levels, and enables them to efficiently control the amount of ammonia present by oxidising it to nitrite and further breaking the nitrite down to nitrate.

Applications

Nitrifying Tank
Aeration Tank
OXPOND
WWTP
MBBR
ETP
STP
SBR
MBR

Benifits

Efficiently convert ammonia in wastewater into nitrate
Assist in meeting ammonia emission standards
Accelerating the nitrification process by adding nitrifying bacteria, as natural nitrifying bacteria grow slowly
Enhance nitrification under toxic, inhibitory, or cold conditions
Improve ammonia emission reduction efficiency without increasing additional land and equipment
Convert harmful nitrites, hydrogen sulfide, and ammonia nitrogen into harmless nitrogen and/or nitrogen oxides
A 100% natural, chemical free, and environmentally friendly solution

Mode Of Action

Nitrification is the biological process that converts ammonium into nitrate nitrogen and occurs in two stages. First, bacteria such as Nitrosomonas transform ammonia and ammonium into nitrite through the reaction: {2NH3 + 3 O2 → 2HNO2 + 2 H2O + 158 kcal (660 kJ)}.
In the second stage, another group of bacteria called Nitrobacter further convert nitrite into nitrate. This step is generally coupled with the first and happens quickly, so nitrite levels are typically low at any given time. The reaction for this conversion is: {HNO2 + 1/2 O2 = HNO3 – ⊿ G = 18 kcal}.

Dosage
