Principle | Peptones, beef leaching powder provide nitrogen source, vitamins, minerals; lactose, glucose, sucrose are fermentable sugars, their acid production is measured by phenol sulfonphthalein indicator, yellow in acidity, red in alkalinity; sodium thiosulfate can be reduced to hydrogen sulfide by some bacteria, and with iron salts in ferrous sulfate to produce black iron sulfide; sodium chloride maintains balanced osmolality; agar is the coagulant for the culture medium. |
