Overview

Description The total nitrogen (TN) content in water is one of the important indicators for measuring water quality. Excessive nitrogen and phosphorus in surface water will cause microorganisms to multiply in large numbers, plankton to grow vigorously, and eutrophication will occur. The determination of total nitrogen indicators helps to evaluate the pollution and self-purification status of water bodies, and is of great significance to environmental protection. Referring to the nitrate chromic acid detection method, a prefabricated reagent for the detection of total nitrogen is developed. In the visible light region at a wavelength of 420nm, it is less affected by various impurities and can meet the requirements of batch, rapid and accurate determination of water quality of various environmental waters, domestic sewage and industrial wastewaters.
Under alkaline conditions, after the water sample is oxidized and digested by potassium persulfate, all nitrogen-containing components are converted into orthonitrates. After sodium pyrosulfite is used to remove excess chlorine and oxidizing substances, orthonitrates react with chromic acid in a strong acidic medium to form a yellow complex. The depth of yellow is proportional to the total nitrogen content in the sample.
Application Used for batch, rapid and accurate determination of water quality of various environmental water, domestic sewage and industrial wastewater
