Overview

Instruction The water sample to be tested should be collected and preserved according to the relevant regulations of HJ/T91. Homogenization measures should be taken before use.
For the water sample to be tested: Transfer 5 mL of the water sample into the pre-assembled reagent tube (for the blank sample, take 5 mL of pure water). Add 1 mL of Reagent A, seal the tube, shake well, and let it react for 10 minutes. Then add 1 mL of Reagent B, seal, shake well, let it stand for 1 minute, and add Powder Reagent C. Seal, shake well, and allow the color to develop for 5 minutes.
Wipe the outer walls of the test tube clean, and follow the instrument's user manual to perform the measurement at a wavelength of 810 nm (silicon detection low-range program).
Application This product is suitable for the determination of silica content in water samples at laboratory temperatures between 15°C and 35°C, with a pH range of 2-11. For undiluted water samples, the detection limit is 0.01 mg/L, and the upper measurement limit is 2 mg/L.
Testing Principle Silica and phosphate react with molybdate in an acidic environment to form yellow silica-molybdate heteropolyacid complexes and phosphate-molybdate heteropolyacid complexes. The addition of citric acid can break down the phosphate complexes, leaving only the yellow silica-containing compounds, which can be quantitatively measured. If the silica content is high, the resulting yellow color will be deeper and can be directly measured using a spectrophotometer for absorbance. For samples with low silica content, ascorbic acid can be added as a reducing agent, transforming the light yellow color into a deep blue silica-molybdate complex. The intensity of this blue color is directly proportional to the silica content in the sample. The depth of color, measured by the spectrophotometer, allows for the determination of silica content.
