RNA Transfection Reagents

Cell transfection is a technique for introducing exogenous genetic material, such as DNA or RNA, into cells. The process is commonly used for gene expression studies, gene knockout experiments, protein function studies, and production of recombinant proteins. Common methods of cell transfection include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Chemical transfection: The use of chemical reagents (e.g., liposomes) to form DNA-reagent complexes that enhance the fusion of genetic material with the cell membrane.
• Electroporation: Applying a brief high-voltage electric field to temporarily make the cell membrane more permeable, thus allowing DNA or RNA to enter the cell.
• Physical methods: Physical methods specifically include particle bombardment (gene gun) and microinjection.
