Description Oxazole yellow is equivalent to YO-PRO-1 Iodide, a non-cell membrane-penetrating, high-affinity carbonyl cyanine monomeric nucleic acid green fluorescent dye that is essentially non-fluorescent in the absence of nucleic acid. This dye can be used to identify apoptotic cells, oxazole yellow penetrates into early apoptotic cells and stains early apoptotic cells, whereas propidium iodide (PI) (a dead cell stain) remains non-permeable to early apoptotic cells but stains late apoptotic cells, and the combination of these two dyes allows for the differentiation of early apoptotic cells from late apoptotic cells.
