| Application | The product is used to identify Enterobacteriaceae on the basis of sucrose and salicylic acid fermentation, motility, hydrogen sulfide and indole production. |
| Principle | Motility appears as diffused growth from the inoculation line. Lead acetate paper strip blackening indicates H2S production. Sucrose or salicin fermentation to yellow indicates bromothymol blue as the pH indicator. Indole formation is shown by changing Kovac’s reagent paper to pinkish-red. |

| Directions | Suspend 48.13 g in 1000 ml of purified/distilled water. Heat to boiling to completely dissolve the medium. Dispense in tubes and autoclave at 115°C for 15 minutes. Cool the tubular medium in the upright position. |
