Hoechst 33258 live cell DNA dye

Description Hoechst 33258, also known as bis Benzimide H 33258 or HOE 33258, is a non-embedded bright blue fluorescent dye. The dyes fluoresce weakly in solution, and their fluorescence brightens when they bind to DNA in the minor grooves of regions enriched for DNA poly AT sequences in living cells, so these dyes are also known as DNA probes. Because of the low background, no washing step is required to stain the cells, and the staining is very stable and non-toxic to living cells, lasting several days or more after binding to DNA staining.
