Hard Tissue Sections Technical Service

Hard tissue sectioning is an advanced technology that clearly demonstrates the microstructure of hard tissues and is widely used in the fields of medicine, biology, archaeology, and materials science. As a cutting-edge technology-driven innovative company, CD BioSciences provides high-quality hard tissue sectioning services to help clients overcome key challenges in the field, bringing comprehensive and reliable solutions for the development of related fields.

Hard Tissue Sectioning: A Tool for Microscopic Exploration

Staining results of hard tissue sections.

The hard tissue sectioning technique is a method of using resin material to fill non-decalcified tissue sections, which are processed by a specialized hard tissue cutting and grinding sectioning system. The technique is capable of cutting fresh and hard tissues (e.g. femurs, hips, vertebrae), as well as bone histology samples with implants (e.g. metals, ceramics, plastics, minerals, etc.). After fine grinding, polishing, and special staining, the microstructure of the bone tissue can be observed, providing an important basis for scientific research and clinical diagnosis.

Advantages of Hard Tissue Sections

Maintains Tissue Integrity

Hard tissue sectioning does not require decalcification of the bone tissue and therefore maintains the integrity of the tissue and avoids the deformation and cell damage that can result from the decalcification process.

High Resolution

After fine grinding and polishing, the sectioned samples have a high resolution, which can clearly show the microstructure of bone tissue and provide accurate information for scientific research and clinical diagnosis.

Wide Range of Applications

The hard tissue sectioning technique is not only suitable for small pieces of bone tissue but also for large pieces of bone tissue as well as bone tissue samples with implants.

Our Services

CD BioSciences provides hard tissue sectioning technology services integrating sample processing, embedding, sectioning, grinding, staining, and analysis to help researchers observe the microstructure of hard tissues, and provide accurate information and support for the fields of medicine, biology, archaeology, and material science.

Sample Processing

  • Non-decalcified hard tissues: We perform fine cleaning of the hard tissue samples obtained to remove surface impurities. We use specialized reagents for fixation to maintain tissue morphology and cell structure. During sample processing, we use special techniques to avoid the decalcification process, ensuring tissue integrity and hardness.
  • Hard tissue with implants: For hard tissue samples containing implants such as metal, ceramic, etc., we provide a customized treatment plan to ensure that the implants are well integrated with the surrounding tissue without compromising the quality of the sections.
  • Hard tissue without implants: For hard tissue samples without implants, we provide standardized processing to ensure stability and consistency during sectioning.
  • Stented vascular hard tissue: For hard tissue samples containing vascular stents, we provide meticulous processing to ensure that the morphology and structure of the vessels are maintained.

Sample Embedding

We use high-quality resin material to embed the processed hard tissue samples to ensure uniformity and no air bubbles to improve the quality of the sections.

Sample Slicing and Grinding

We use a high-precision slicer to section hard tissue samples after embedding. Step-by-step grinding and polishing techniques are used to obtain high-quality sections while ensuring section quality and tissue integrity.

Sample Staining

Depending on the characteristics of the sample, we offer a variety of staining methods:

  • HE Staining: Standard HE staining methods are used to clearly show tissue structure and cell morphology.
  • Toluidine Blue Staining: Staining the sections with toluidine blue shows collagen fibers and cartilage structure.
  • Resorcinol Staining: Resorcinol staining shows the maturity of the bone tissue.

Imaging and Analysis of Slices

Through microscopic observation, we image and analyze hard tissue slices. This step can be used for a wide range of applications such as pathology studies, hard tissue morphology analysis, hard tissue metabolism analysis, and biocompatibility studies of implantable biomaterials.

Pathological Studies

Microscopic observation of sections for pathological studies.

Morphological Analysis

Quantitative analysis of the morphology and structure of hard tissues based on morphological parameters and diagrams.

Metabolic Analysis

Detection and analysis of metabolism-related indexes on sections.

Biocompatibility Study

Biocompatibility analysis of sections containing implants to assess the compatibility of the implant with the surrounding tissue.
