Product Information

Application This product can be used to study the fermentation reaction of Clostridium perfringens with the addition of carbohydrates.
Principle Tryptone and special peptone supply essential nutrients. Sodium thioglycollate creates low oxygen tension for anaerobic organism growth.

Agar 2.0 g
Directions Suspend 22.25 g in 1000 ml of purified/distilled water. Heat to boiling to completely dissolve the medium. Dispense 9 ml into 16 X 125 mm test tubes containing inverted Durham tubes. Autoclave at 15 pounds pressure (121°C) for 15 minutes. Prior to use, the tubes were heated in boiling water or free-flowing steam for 10 minutes to remove dissolved oxygen and 1 ml of 1% sterile carbohydrates-salicylic acid and cotton-cellulose-are added to separate tubes.

Storage

Keep in airtight containers at 10-30°C. Prepared medium is kept at 15-30°C.
