Description

Fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) is a compound formed by reacting natural oils or fats with methanol and is the main feedstock for biodiesel. FAME is chemically more similar to conventional diesel and can therefore be used as a direct substitute or additive for diesel. Advantages include renewability, biodegradability and lower harmful emissions.
