Description

Bacillus licheniformis is a gram-positive, rod-shaped bacterium with a size of 0.8 µm by 1.5-3.5 µm. It has oval spores located near the center and slightly expanded sporocysts. On bouillon culture medium, the bacterial colonies are flat, irregularly edged, white, and rough with a folded surface, measuring about 3 mm in diameter after 24 hours.

Benifits

Bacillus licheniformis is versatile in synthetic biology, used to produce enzymes, chemicals, and antibiotics due to its endospore-forming ability.
It also acts as a powerful feed additive, enhancing nutrient breakdown for better animal absorption.
In dental care, its enzyme can break down plaque-forming bacteria, potentially improving oral health.
In aquaculture, it helps improve water quality by decomposing organic matter and inhibiting harmful algae.
In agriculture, it boosts crop yield and quality by enhancing soil microbial balance.

Mode Of Action

Bacillus licheniformis promotes the production of antibacterial substances, competes with harmful bacteria for nutrients and attachment points in the digestive tract, and uses biological mechanisms to sequester oxygen. This action inhibits pathogenic bacteria, helps establish normal gut flora, improves immune function, enhances digestion and absorption, and prevents the synthesis of toxic amines.
