Description Alamar blue cell viability assay kit is a cell viability assay kit based on Alamar blue. Alamar blue is an azo, hydrophilic, acidic blue dye that penetrates the cell membranes of dead and dying cells and stains them blue, whereas living cells are contaminated by their cell membranes and can therefore be distinguished from dead cells by the color change.
